By Agreement published in the Federal Official Journal, the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property will be closed from December 21, 2016 to January 3, 2017. Any terms or deadlines for responding to Office Actions or filing any other promotions (e.g., new applications, etc.), which fall within the said period of time, will be automatically extended to expire by January 4, 2017.
By Agreement published in the Federal Official Journal, the following days will be non-working days in 2016 for the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property:
– February 1st;
– March 21, 24 and 25;
– May 5;
– September 1 and 16;
– November 2 and 21;
– December 12.
The terms ending on the aforementioned non-working days will expire on the first working day thereafter.
By Agreement published on March 18, 2016 in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF), the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) establishes the guidelines for the filing and receipt of applications as well as for the practice of electronic notifications through the Payment and Electronic Services gateway (PASE) of IMPI.
As a result of said Agreement, it will be possible from April 1, 2016:
* Procedure of administrative declaration of nullity, revocation and cancellation of patents or registration of utility models, industrial designs, layout designs of integrated circuits, trademarks and slogans and authorization of use of appellations of origin.
* Procedure of administrative declaration of infringement of rights of industrial property (patents, registrations of utility models, industrial designs, layout designs of integrated circuits, trademarks, slogans and published trade names).
* Procedure of administrative declaration of infringement related to commerce (for copyrights).
* Request for administrative declaration of notoriety or fame of brand.
By Agreement published in the Federal Official Journal, the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property announces changes in the Schedule of Official Fees effective from January 1, 2016.
By Agreement published in the Federal Official Journal, the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property will be closed from December 22, 2015 to January 6, 2016. Any terms or deadlines for responding to Office Actions or filing any other promotions (e.g., new applications, etc.), which fall within the said period of time, will be automatically extended to expire by January 7, 2016.
